After auditioning in Boston a couple weeks ago, I have been offered a role in an upcoming production with UK-based Punchdrunk and the American Repertory Theater.

Award-winning British theater company, Punchdrunk, makes its U.S. debut this fall with Sleep No More, an immersive production inspired by Shakespeare’s Macbeth, told through the lens of a Hitchcock thriller. An extraordinary, unexpected location will be exquisitely transformed into an installation of cinematic scenes that evoke the world of Macbeth. You, the audience, have the freedom to roam the environment and experience a sensory journey as you choose what to watch and where to go. Rediscover the childlike excitement of exploring the unknown in this unique theatrical adventure.

Come to Cora's performance of our most recent work, Prey, at the Brooklyn Museum's Target First Saturdays at 6:30pm!

Prey is a marriage between the raw, blind intensity to survive with a tender reverence for life. This constant internal struggle plays out in this site-based work where threat of confinement or release, abandonment and restriction haunt those that travel within its walls. Inspired by the diverse and intense works within Richard Einhorn’s acclaimed score, Voices of Light, Prey reveals the close kinships between brutality and tenderness, cowardice and heroism in both animal and human form. This site based version creates an architectural relationship between the building and the dance itself, pushing the limits of dimension and capacity to their most extreme. The building becomes more than a neutral shell but a character within which architecture, light and costuming intermingle to create a terrifyingly austere yet heart-clutchingly tangible environment.

Prey was created with significant support from Robert and Mary Beth Aberlin; through a creative residency from Vermont Performance Lab with assistance from Marlboro College, Marlboro, Vermont; and through a 2006-2007 Artist Residency from BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange.

The PeriChild Ensemble is an outreach children’s dance company that was founded in 2000 as a natural extension of the school Peridance Center. These young dancers train in pre-professional technique classes and learn choreography from established choreographers. They develop relationships with hundreds of children from various organizations by extending their knowledge and love for dance through teaching within Interactive Workshops and performing throughout the Metropolitan area.

BAXco, BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange's youth dance company, was established in 2006 to prepare young dancers to be more professional performers. BAXco is comprised of teens from our Dance Performing Workshops who demonstrate a high level of commitment and skill and a strong desire to be part of a performance ensemble. The company performs work by some of NYC's most contemporary, provocative choreographers.

The lovely dancers of the Shenandoah Contemporary Dance Theater, who I got to work with last year, are in town this weekend for the teen arts conference. Here they are at dinner last night and I will get to see them perform at BAX this evening. They are incredible.

This Saturday, March 7th at 3pm, my lovely teens from the dance repertory company, BaxCo, will be performing in the Kids Cafe Festival at the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University. The show will be held in the Kumble Theater and they are performing the work of Hattie Mae Williams. JMU Associate Residency

I spent last weekend at James Madison University setting work on the freshman dance ensemble. I reset two sections of a previously made work entitled 'Cross the Water to music by Toshi Reagon. It was an incredible experience. My lovely dancers were amazing - thank you Anna, Brittany, Shelby, Dara, Jamie & Melissa (not Michelle). This is our last rehearsal video - forgive the quality. Oh, and Eve was an incredible rehearsal assistant.
